Greater Houston City Amateur Championship

he Greater Houston City Amateur Championship is run by the Houston Golf Association and is regarded as the region’s premiere amateur golf event. The tournament is held annually at Gus Wortham Golf Course and features three rounds (54 holes) of stroke play. Entry is open to male amateur golfers with a current USGA Handicap Index of 15.4 or lower who have had at least six months of permanent residency in the Greater Houston area, including the counties of Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller. Registration is handled through online sign-ups on the Houston Golf Association website, with qualifying rounds held for most division entries except exempt players (including past champions and top finishers in major Texas amateur events). The field is limited to around 144 players, with a cut made after two rounds for the final round.
